I suppose it's pretty hard to speak and sing very clearly without any teeth at all...I remember some interview with Spider, where he stated that Shane had to learn to sing more clearly since the reunion or something. I think it must be very hard to pronouce "s-words" very clearly and sharply without any teeth.

Jaysus... that was like pulling... oh...

Could it be that he gets to pocket more money that way I wonder? If it's [some of] The Pogues, we need to know!!

..but then why would it be credited to Shane alone if it's got three other Pogues on it?

Unless they are being mischievous perhaps.

I'm guessing not, as it's not on the official soundtrack CD, but on another CD subtitled "Music Inspired by the Film". Which seems a strange way of putting it, and probably entirely the wrong way round, as most of the songs surely predate the movie? Maybe, given the producer's comments ("These are the artists we listened to on the way to set each morning and in the evenings with the dust, like bitter chalk, upon our teeth"), it should've been "Music that Inspired us during the Making of the Film"?

Definately a new vocal. Seems like Shane's voice has recovered quite a bit in recent years (or is it modern studio and recording technology? ^^), sounds pretty cool really. Band doesn't sound like the Pogues at all, more like an average cover-version of the Pogues. But overall really nice recording, is it in the film itself?!

I can't be doing with this. I'm off over to the Silvermines to find him and ask him myself. Back in an hour, sooner if he tells me to feck off and mind my own business.

Edit. Only joking, I'm in Kinsale on me holliers.

This is intriguing. I'm pretty certain that I haven't heard this particular vocal before. But then again, from Shane's voice on the recording it sounds like it could've been recorded years ago...

I'm saying new vocal because of the toothless sounding diction...

After yet another listen, yes, that is persuasive. And yes, it is still a cracking performance.
