Gotta admit, tho, there are a lot of similarities in their lifestyles/rise and fall from fame.

But as dzm said, that's the music biz for ya :/

Shane MacGowan/Jim Morrison, long lost brothers?

Was thinking about this the other day: Does anyone else see striking parallels between Shane and Jim Morrison (front man of The Doors)?

They both fronted unique, sometimes controversial bands.

Both had problems with smoking and alcohol.

Both had hectic, unhealthy lifestyles.

Both obtained a huge amount of success very rapidly.

Both had their fame and lifestyles catch up with them in the end, starting them on a downward spiral, eventually leading them to leave their respective bands.

The big difference, of course, is that Morrison is no longer with us, while Shane (for now) is. But both had similar rises and falls from fame, all the while maintaining bad habits that eventually caught up with them.

Anyway, just thought it was an interesting observation.
