Its a good idea. I've decided that humans have religion because they are mostly because they are afraid of death.... but holidays are something entirely different. Humans have holidays simply because we like to get together with friends and families and celebrate. We need to gather our loved ones every once in a while. The birth of baby Jesus is absolutely not the reason for the season. The coldest darkest month (you Aussies notwithstanding) is just a great time to spite natures attempts to keep us sullen and have good cheer despite it all.

Merry Christmas

My new version of Christmas for Shane

I've always felt really hypocritical enjoying Christmas as much as I do. This morning, still revelling in the joys of Brixton, I came up with a solution. I have decided (as a massive atheist) that from this day forward, I will be celebrating the birth of somebody who does actually bring about joy to all. I will, this Christmas day and all Christmas Days that follow, eat turkey, drink booze and give presents to celebrate the birth of Shane Macgowan. Yes.
