En nem tudok semmit Magyarul.

Especially with writing the accents and umlauts. Just a few things remembered from a year I spent in Budapest in the early nineties. Mostly I just know phrases like "kurva elat" and that the word "baszmeg" seems to be used like a spoken comma in sentences.

And, yes I like the painting of Shane. Well done.

Thank you for the praise! You are the first on the web.
Do you like the painting?
Can you speak in Hungarian? Or was this only a gesture?

Thank you for the information. This is a good trace.
The style may be tallies although I did not find this figure yet.
Somebody knows a web page like that where they deal with this book more deeply in the form of a picture?

It's Monastic illustration isn't it? I don't think it's necessarily The Book of Kells but it's of that ilk.

Maybe one of Shane's whistle players outside the Pogues?

Figures on the Crock of Gold cover

Post by lajos andirko Sat Dec 04, 2010 6:54 pm

Hi!
I'm a painter from Hungary. I'm a great Shane MacGowan's fan and I respect his working class. I did it a clay sculpture from him. I have many Pogues and Popes albums.
So I have The Crock of Gold album and the bearded flute shape figures on three places in the cover. I want to know this is a Celtic or a Scythian symbol? And what does it mean? Because I want paint it and I would like to know his background. I would like to paint Shane MacGowan later.

Cheers
Lajos
