im sure this board would have way more members if people would be more understanding
Look, it is not possible to give a serious answer to the question "Does Shane still write?" The honest answer for Shane, as for myself and, I don't doubt, Bono too, is "Yes, all the time, every day." Being a writer is being in a sort of state of grace which allows the writer to gradually, painstakingly build a picture in his head. The actual physical process of putting the darn thing on paper is just the final, and in many ways least interesting, part of the process. I "wrote" most of my lyrics on the new Radiators album in less than a week, but the songs have existed for months, years, in my head, on bits of paper, in the margins of books, scribbled into theatre Playbills, jotted on the back of Airplane boarding cards etc etc, like so many scattered jigsaw pieces just waiting to be formed into a new and hopefully original shape. I am writing now. That may seem like stating the obvious, but I don't just mean I'm writing this post.
Actually I hadnt thought of it like that. I used to write a lot poetry and then after certain events in my life I just stopped about four years ago. I tried to continue but nothing came out so I stopped writting. Then about a year ago I just started jotting some stuff down and it came back again. I cant explain why it just did. I now realise it was probably a stupid question ha ha. Ps in relation to the other comments posted i certainly took them in the humour they where posted in and took no offence what so ever. This is probably the best site on the whole of the internet and long may it continue
