Thanks Phil and everyone. Tiredness will probably prompt me to post more bizzare questions as the year goes on

Do the Pogues still do the Waltons theme???

I agree, for what its worth, with my Czech friend. I read Benno's comment as "tongue-in-cheek" (sarcasm) and I also agree that.... well, its just ok to bash Bono, and there's "nothing really wrong" with him.

I only mentioned Bonno in the first place cause he made that comment reference Shanes writting. Basically the original question was in relation to Shane writting lyrics which Philip has explained the process off. I cant see the problem, its a forum some people come on to take the piss some come on to be serious and some do both.

Stay tuned for next weeks question. 'Does Shane still watch Once Upon in America' occaisonaly.

Wise words maybe, but they don´t matter here imo. I see no problem with jokes, even maybe some "harder" ones. But I undestand someone has that problem. When he asks and many people make fun of him, that´s not too motivating nor kind to him. Especially when you basically make idiot out of him, is it :?:

Even though some questions aren´t really bright (btw. I think that one isn´t from the worst. - and those words about writing songs - which are completely true - could be said earlier, or in same post with those jokes), they could be treated with at least some respect...

And here I was thinking we were humorously terrible. What a burden to be so wrong about one's self. :(

Regarding more members - The fora and community around them is organic. The atmosphere is determined by the participants. The level of discourse will raise and fall with tides, hormones, drugs, and any number of other contributing factors. It is what it is.

I'm not particularly interested in being proselytized to about how to gain more members. Volume of participants is not the goal of this site or board. I'm much more interested in a group of people with a common interest (and that I consider to be my friends) enjoying themselves. If the community is smaller than it could be if we all suppressed our urges to poke fun at each other then so be it. That's a price I'm comfortable with.

...

Huh. It's nearly 3:00am. I bet when I read this tomorrow I'll be totally embarrassed by it.

but that's the thing
you guys dont only poke fun at each other
you poke fun at the new guys
every time

so what, youre as much a medusan if youve 1 post as if you have 2000+ posts

Look, it is not possible to give a serious answer to the question "Does Shane still write?" The honest answer for Shane, as for myself and, I don't doubt, Bono too, is "Yes, all the time, every day." Being a writer is being in a sort of state of grace which allows the writer to gradually, painstakingly build a picture in his head. The actual physical process of putting the darn thing on paper is just the final, and in many ways least interesting, part of the process. I "wrote" most of my lyrics on the new Radiators album in less than a week, but the songs have existed for months, years, in my head, on bits of paper, in the margins of books, scribbled into theatre Playbills, jotted on the back of Airplane boarding cards etc etc, like so many scattered jigsaw pieces just waiting to be formed into a new and hopefully original shape. I am writing now. That may seem like stating the obvious, but I don't just mean I'm writing this post.

Actually I hadnt thought of it like that. I used to write a lot poetry and then after certain events in my life I just stopped about four years ago. I tried to continue but nothing came out so I stopped writting. Then about a year ago I just started jotting some stuff down and it came back again. I cant explain why it just did. I now realise it was probably a stupid question ha ha. Ps in relation to the other comments posted i certainly took them in the humour they where posted in and took no offence what so ever. This is probably the best site on the whole of the internet and long may it continue
