The Internet is remarkable in that it allows people to become even less civilized to eachother with nearly no effort.

Very true, which leaves the moderator(s) with a difficult job. I'd just like to thank you DzM for the great job you do on this forum. I've been into a few fora over the years and this is the best IMHO.
Slainte.

I don't believe IMLH is Shane. Shane would not type in that style. There is a difference. IMLH was too wordy.

The possibility reminds me of the time I got a message onscreen on Napster, back around 2000. I'd downloaded everything I could find of Shane's, including the old Nips and Nipple Erectors. There was one track which was labeled as such, but didn't sound like the rest of them. My media player identified it as "Nips - Grogo mix". I didn't rename it.

Out of the blue, here comes the rudest message I'd ever seen. It simply said:

"THIS IS NOT A NIPS SONG, CUNT" just like that, in all caps.

I barred the sender from further messages, but about ten minues later the thought ran through my head that maybe that had been Shane. I could hear him saying it. And I wasn't angry any more.

IMLH may well be Shane MacGowan, and IMLH is certainly banned. This is not Shane MacGowan's forum however.

It's entertaining but you can't take it too seriously. His comments on The Pogues demise are interesting reading- though I remember other members of the band were pretty p*ssed off at some of the comments. There's a lot of irrational drunken comments.

p.s. If you want to get an idea of what it's like, read inmyliverpoolhome's posts on this forum- very similar style. :) inmyliverpoolhome IS Shane MacGowan- which means Shane must be the first person to get banned from his own forum.

am two-thirds of the way thru the second time round (only another 368 times til i can match MacRua eh?) I have to say i really enjoy the book as i think Shane is less guarded with Victoria than he would be with A.N. Other author/journalist. There are moments where he's definately 'show-boating' or saying something for effect but i think most of us are guilty of that - 'specially apres alcohol.
My Mum borrowed the book at Xmas to read and i forgot to ask her what she thought , must find out.....

i've read it, i enjoyed it. some passages (if thats the correct term) were pretty good - other parts of the conversations were a bit dry or too personal with no real explanation. well, thats how I remember it. im glad i read it.

A drink with... is a good read, though bear in mind its Victoria's book.An autobiography by the man himself would be warmly welcomed by us all.The Lost Decade is a must read for all fans. And dont waste yer time on the crap 5th form essay style book on Shane by Ian O'Doherty.
