i skipped allot of a drink with shane.. the bits about all his relatives and such and such which went on for ages.. the bit about the punk scene in the 70s was great though. made me understand what the punk thing was all about.... just getting fucked and dressing up really...

Well, I assume we're talking about "A Drink With...", in which case I guess I just don't like the book. I think it tells us more about Victoria Clarke than Shane, it's written in an annoying style, and the 'interviews' that form the basis of it were carried out at a very low point in Shane's life and I don't think reflect the true personality of the man. Didn't Shane himself criticize the book when it came out? To me it shows a lot of bitterness towards the Pogues that isn't really there, and apart from a few anecdotes doesn't really tell you much you didn't already know.

But then again it's a better book than I've ever written!
