I can well believe it. I remember going to a festival where the promoters had given the artists a list of the kind of crowd behaviour that they weren't allowed to encourage. You can guess the sort of thing: no moshing, no pogoing, no crowd-surfing and so on. Early on in their set, one of the singers (I can't remember who it was) read out the list to the crowd. Then looked at the crowd, grinned, and said, "Just do what you like, guys."
