You're already over the 100 post mark. I think there's no need for more Me Too!s. :)

and in honor of that post and these fora, I am wearing my pogues.com t-shirt today

Thanks so much! I came this close to being at the Atlanta show in March and was going to surprise you with a travelpogue on it and throw in the new child announcement, but work foiled my plans.

I expect I will have a little more time to log on here and there going forward, but unless you want another string of "Me Too!" postings you might not hear much from me.

Hey, thanks for asking! I have been lurking about periodically. About a year and a half ago I switched to a job where I actually have to work so I don't get to spend as much time online unfortunately. I still review the agony and the ecstasy of the forum but don't have so much time to post. Other than that, doing great! the handsome boy shown in my avatar and announced in my travelpogue (http://www.pogues.com/Print/kmurray105.html) is now 2 1/2. And he has a little brother or sister on the way in October!

It's good to see you again kmurray105. And thanks for the pointer to you '06 Travelpogues. That, and the discussion thread related to it, were a fun trip down memory lane.

Congrats to The Lovely Mrs. kmurray105 and yourself!

My long term influence of friends via the Pogues

Post by kmurray105 Fri Apr 17, 2009 4:34 pm

I recently reconnected with some old friends that I hadn't heard from in almost 20 years. One of those people told me she has been wanting to thank me for years because it was because of me that she met her husband. I introduced her to the Pogues in high school and her being a Pogues fan years later is what caused her to strike up a conversation with a guy when she found out he was a fan as well. They are now married and have 4 kids that they play Pogues music to.

Another friend just sent me an email after 18 years or so of not hearing from him and in this message told me he still listens to the Pogues regularly and wanted to thank me for that.

Now, all I did was let them know about the music (albeit rather forcefully) but still it was kind of nice to hear from them that it was an influence. Naturally the band really deserves the credit here but I was happy to hear from them. not sure I would have if they weren't holding that bit of info they wanted to share.
