Probably the window was in the upper level of an extremely high building or train?

Actually Shane fell out of a train in Japan, not a window. The situation was starting to become quite a problem for quite sometime, the Japan incident was the straw that broke the camel's back. I think the constant touring and the fact that Shane had become quite disillusioned with the Pogues musical direction (although this is highly debateable, rememeber Shane had become deeply involved in the acid house music scene.) Also, Shane's alcohol problem had started to become a major problem, even causing him to miss gigs (The entire Bob Dylan tour)

Why was Shane out of the group so long? He was asked to leave when he fell out of a window in Japan. But why did it take so long?
