Well, as long as we're wishing, I'm going with DzM's box set idea, with a reunion DVD thrown in as well. I won't be fussy about which show - as long as I get to see Shane dance and James leap about a bit, I'll be happy.

So I'd prefer a reunion DVD, of course with an early gig as a bonus feature

I like your thinking, the reunion DVD would be better because of the set-list which would be there greatest hits which wouldn't of been around back in the day. But as you say a two for one is a good idea.

I think a DVD of the reunion shows would be the best choice. Their playing is top-notch. You could argue that Shane's voice was better in the early days (up to 1986) but their reunion shows are visually far mor interesting. Those who have seen the video of their '85 Munich gig will know that besides Spider's tray bashing not too much else is going on. Later on you have Shane dancing around etc. - in addition to the great music. So I'd prefer a reunion DVD, of course with an early gig as a bonus feature :D

There exist an 1985 gig with Cait filmed by German TV. This is the earliest known full concert. So something exists in the archives.
BBC released a clip of Sally MacLennane on one of their Old Grey Whistle Test dvds.

Here's your ultimate pogues DVD collection.

1) Pogue-Mahone/ early Pogues gig.

2) as DzM said IISFFGWG era gig. (not the same as the Town and Country gig)

3) Life after Shane Gig/interviews

4) Christmas gig with Cait. (It's nice to see all 9 pogues on stage for the first time ever)

5) A modern doc with sentimental moments and all the band telling eachother how much they hated and loved being in the pogues over a 20 year peroid, and a tribute to Kirsty and Joe.

p.s by modern I mean not the 'Completely Pogued' one that comes with the Town and Country gig.

Umm. Well yeah. I have no interest in DVD-R copies of three generations old VHS copies of an off-the-air taping.

Box Set wish list...

That makes several hundred of us, DZM, but I'd like an "official" release for a change, not some "silverback (NOT CD-R) and strictly limited items".

I know the band is extremely critical of it's sound on playback, but whatever they put out there will be many times better than what most of us already have. And it will mean so much more to own it.

I'd love a small box set collection. Something showing the band's evolution. Disc 1 showing the early days (I'm sure something exists from the 86 era or earlier), Disc 2 showing the IISFFGWG era, Disc 3 showing the WFH era, and Disc 4 with various out-takes and snippits (e.g. a couple clips with Joe performing, a couple clips with Elvis performing, etc)

That's a great show to watch - bittersweet now, seeing Kirsty and Joe - but I would love to see something more recent.

You can easily find an official pogues dvd of the St. Patricks day show from 1988. http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=se ... ing=pogues

Also several pro-shot shows circulate among fans, and can be found on ebay.

MR Chevron has said that they did make a video of the re-union gig in Manchester. I, for one, would kill to get it released. Or atleast to get any kind of copy of it..
