I nevr pay attention to album charts anyway, but maybe it's because that album was there fourth greatest hits album and maybe people didn't want the live CD as much as others.

If you think bob marley in the 70s/80s used his ownd jamican regge music which was on his own front door, and played it all over the world. And you didnt have to be a Jamican 'pot head' to enjoy it. [...] That sterotype is probably why the pogues werent as 'mainstream' as they should of been, because somepeople did brand it stupid 'druken paddy music' without listening to the music and lyrics.

Concerning Marley, it's strange to note that when him and his songs became famous, Kingston or even Jamaica inhabitants no more listened to them... As we say in french, "nul n'est prophète en son pays" (which means more or less that nobody is recognized at his real value in his own country). And I wondered if the Pogues had known the same phenomenon..

About Pogues' music and lyrics, when I listened carefully to understand what they said, I was really amazed bye the depth of some songs' lyrics... just like Bob Marley lyrics, could we say :)

Simon, I think you would probably get high marks today if you were to write that school essay about the Pogues. (Just remember to use spellcheck.)

I think the pogues and bob marley aren't that different in a way!

If you think bob marley in the 70s/80s used his ownd jamican regge music which was on his own front door, and played it all over the world. And you didnt have to be a Jamican 'pot head' to enjoy it.

The pogues are the same with irish music you dont have to be a 'druken paddy' to enjoy and appreciate Shane's songs or any of the other pogues songs for that matter. That sterotype is probably why the pogues werent as 'mainstream' as they should of been, because somepeople did brand it stupid 'druken paddy music' without listening to the music and lyrics.

Well, I discovered The Pogues with this Ultimate collection someone bought for me in London last month, and I have to say that it is f****** great music!

I'm not Irish nor English, I always told myself I didn't like that kind of music, but now I'm happy of listening to it. It definitely is the best thing I've heard for a long time ^^

ya i cant understand people who dont like live CD's or DVD's because it lacks the'atmosphere' and 'magic', of being there,

bollocks shut up moaning and enjoy the music.

Thanks, Mr C, for the insight into the making of the album. And congratulations to the band and everyone involved in making something so magnificent.
