I listened to it last night. It's a lovely album but I have a few comments of my own to share with you.
I find that because it is an analogue to digital recording it lacks presence, not all the time, some songs sound great on it. Also I don't know if my copy is a little sticky but Fiesta sounded really strange compared to other recordings I have of it. The track starting buzzing and wavering in and out. We thought at the time it was the stylus as it's not been changed for a while but it went back to normal when the next track came on. Maybe it will be better on second listen.
Apart from those things I think that it was money well spent and I recommend every fan tries to get hold of a copy. It was nice to hear (probably) one of the first recordings of Philip singing 1000's. I had tears in my eyes just listening to it. I don't usually cry to 1000's, although I did when he dedicated it to me in 2006.
There were songs that suited Joe and songs that didn't and I much prefer Shane singing them, but all in all a very unique and special thing to have in any Pogues fans record collection. The red vinyl is truly beautiful.
