Lionel Grosheny has written a wonderful chapter about the Paris shows in the recently released "Pogues" book, by Calum Bruce.
It's not a book purely on The Pogues, but it's a cracking read. The story of how the Paris Anniversary shows evolved is told brilliantly by the man who really did live the dream. It's interesting stuff, and well worth a look.
The Paris shows really were a highlight of The Pogues career. And I too, really fucked up, by not being there!

What does anyone think?

That's a decent shout, having listened to it, it's a possibility. Would be just like Shane to mix things up a bit, purely for his own, sometimes devilish amusement. This Paris thing, especially the DVD is a "must have at hand" commodity. You mention "if they gig again" well, if they don't, at least we have this. And you.....to decipher the lyrics !!!

I've always regarded the live CD that accompanied The Ultimate Collection as better than most drugs. But the DVD is a fine accomplishment. Only wish I'd been there.

Back in more disconnected days wherever I went I used to always take with me a copy of Live at The Town and Country Club, just in case... Saved my day more than once.

Very good Father. If I'm honest, that's not what I thought he was saying. Very astute of you to decipher the code so to speak. A nip of Whiskey from my bottle to you. Come round anytime !

So tempted to watch this marvellous DVD tonight and open me whiskey. This must be one of the absolute best Poguey products ever made.
Every home should have one. Can turn a shit night into a night of magic! The Whiskey will also help things along just nicely.....

Sorry to correct you, but it's from 2004, not 2006.

I was one of the people that Philip dedicated 1000's to in 2006 at the MEN Arena and remember the gig well as it was the year when the sound wasn't up to scratch. Philip dedicating the song to me that night made things a lot better and I met him for the first time after the gig.

Not just the sound but the shadow of Tom McManamon (R.I.P.) death .I remember being so shocked and saddened at that news , wondering if the show must go on or could//should it.The Pogues where on form at other gigs on that tour , but that cloud was too soon and too big. That said I still went home wih a smile on my face.Even at bad sounding Pogues gig still hits home.

I said 2006 because is what is written in the box cover (I have the 2CD+2DVD box).

Despite the error the message is the same: what is the reason for not having good video concerts in the stores? Official ones, with good image, sound, ...

Damned. Seeing the Brixton DVD and this one it makes me very sad. 3 of them are already in heaven. My sons and wife says that I'm crazy, almost crying for people I didn't know "alive". I really didn't know them but they belong to the person I am today. I'm old enough to say: I'm 45 and love the Pogues since my youth, and it was at least 25 years ago,

Regarding the CD/DVD I think the Spider sound is too low. But is wonderfull to have the 2nd official live DVD from The Pogues.

I live Los Angleles, Ca. so I might have to send you your pint in the mail. If I ever make it to Ireland though, Tipperary will be on the top of my list of places to visit. I remember watching a video clip of a young Shane saying that Belfast is just as fucked up as London, but if you can live in a nice little place like Tipperary, Ireland is great. I get enough of the big city everyday, so I enjoy the countryside on vacations.

Do you get many "Broad Majestic Shannon" tourist in Tipperary?
