Whitley Bay, for those of you who haven't had the pleasure, is a seaside town just north of Newcastle upon Tyne. It has a very fine sandy beach, as I remember it. Anyway, the lyric does add a new geographical dimension to the song.

Well now..I feel really foolish! Guess I won't go searching youtube after all! <throws self out the window> :roll:

Mrs McGreer used to think Blondie's Debbie Harry was singing about a guy called Tommy. "Oh Tommy, oh oh, Oh Tommy oh oh" :roll:

In place of what?? I took them with me babe? If it is, that's just perfect 8)

Yep, that's it! I sort of love it. It's going to be stuck in my head like that now.

Especially when you combine it with the Toy Dolls` "I gave my heart to a slag called Sharon from Whitley Bay" ... :D

The Pixies - Debaser

got me a movie
i want you to know
slicing up eyeballs
i want you to know

I have the cd (WITH lyrics) but I always thought it was "slicing up bibles"

another one is with The Ramones - Sheena is a punkrocker

But she just couldn't stay she had to break away
Well New York City really has is all oh yeah, oh yeah

One day she´s really gonna have it all was my guess for a long time

For years, and I mean YEARS, me and my brother couldn't , for love nor money, make out the lines;

" We've a thirst like a gang of devils, we're the boys from the county hell ".

All I could come up with and what I used to sing to it was;
" We're the worst looking gang of devils, we're the boys from the county hell ".
Sorry lads. Ha!

dsweeney wrote:" And now the winter comes down and I can't stand the chill,
that comes in the springtime and I kiss my last fag,
I'm buggered for a match and I haven't got a penny,
To wander the dark streets of London."

For years, before the lyrics book came out , I couldn't nail these lines so this is what I came up with. Not too f**kin' shabby if you ask me actually.

On the same song, i thought for years they gave you a nice warm drink. Not an electric shock to the head! :oops:

And every time that I look on the first day of summer,
Takes me back to the place where they gave you sweet tea,
And the drugged up psychos
With death in their eyes.......

Body of an American...'the tinker boys they hissed advice, hot-wire her with a pin'..
to my ears..even now..'the tinker boys they hissed advice on murder with a grin'...
I prefer the 2nd line...er..smiley face thing.

Ummmmm....154? :?

To stay on topic...crap, I can't even think of any. I guess the entirety of "Rain Street" was a misheard lyric to me until I actually read them.
