When you follow one of those links it makes things YOU buy for the next 24 hours tithe me, but things you point other people to will not tithe me unless you pointed them to the same URL you followed. It's all to do with cookies from Amazon. I'd bore you with lots of detail, but it would bore you.
Ummm. And Medusa. As Philip pointed out, that book provides some level of background. An incredibly brief version, from my memory and filled with errors, would be that Marcia Farquhar suggested that the painting would make an awesome album cover. And later on Jem thought it'd make a spiffy song (which it did). And for reasons all my own I thought it'd make a useful theme for a web page. And it's also a really awesome painting. And the event itself was a tragedy brought about by greed and incompetence.
