The song " Oretown " on the Pogue Mahone album borrows very liberallly from " The Lonsome boatman ". Without being a direct lift James McNally definitely tips a nod to it on the low whistle instrumental second half of the song.

Just wondering have the Pogues ever done Lonesome Boatman? It's a great bit of music, love singing the tune at the football (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvd2o7ytrzg) and I'm sure Spider would do a great rendition, particularly with the likes of Philip, Terry and Jem on strings.
