I gotta say...heres an example: listen to the original Brown Eyes, and then listen to the reissue....I dont think I can ever listen to the original again. The reissues sound like theyre on vinyl their that good! pick em up....

At first, I liked the sound of A Pair of Brown Eyes better on the old version when I compared it to the re-issue. But now I wouldn't want to miss it. And to have Poguetry and Parting Glass on RS&L is priceless. So run and buy it!

Personally I blame too many gigs attended. Ears not what they used to be.

But "gentleman shoulder". Now that's a song I'd like to hear:
"It was of a gentleman shoulder
just below his neck..."

But back to the question: yes Tom, buy the reissues!

these might be some of the people who thought spider sang on gentleman shoulder...
not the best ears?

and i was laughed at and/or ignored when i pointed out that spider sang two words on Sally... remember? we all hear the "FAR AWAY"

but did you really notice him backing up Shane on just the words "I LIKE" (to think of me returning...)

headphones are definetly the best way to listen to music... and i love small things like that, in songs. it's like....WHY did they decide to back up two words!? and thank god they did...it's perfect.

Remixes? You mean the remastered reissues?
You can get them anywhere. amazon, ebay, ect...

valen wrote:Anyone know where I could buy the new remixes online ? I've a few of the old CDs, but would like to get the whole lot, and maybe donate my older CDs to my family who keep borrowing them on me anyway...

Agree, you can mainly hear some improvment in the sound on Red Roses and Rum Sodomy & The Lash. But you need a decent sound system to make the difference...but i think you all got one 8)

two reasons why that's amazing...

i hate the fact that i can barely hear billy's bones and gentleman soldier... and i thought it was just me.

and, already in my head... i compared the price of cd's to one less bottle and i'll take more time smoking this pack.

reading my mind.

Definitely agree - the bonus songs themselves are worth the price of each CD. And also the improvement in the sound quality is welcome - it's great to listen to Rum, Sodomy & the Lash without the last songs going quiter and quieter until they are almost inaudible. Give up a few bottles and few cigarette packs for the glory of the Pogues catalogue. ;) It IS worth it.

I bought all of them on re-issues, apart from Pogue-Mahone, because I can't find it but still looking, and yes, at first I thought I'll get the one or two I didn't have, but the extra songs are dfinitly worth getting, I think two of the best songs on Peace & Love are the Limerick Rake, and Star of county down, which are part of the re-issues, GO BUY THEM is my messages, as a pogues fan it's fantasic pice of Pogues history.
