As usual I'm coming a bit late to the discussion, but to further the Pogues/Ade Edmondson (via Kirsty MacColl) connection, it's worth noting that he also appeared in the video for Kirsty's early single "Terry." He plays her nerdy suitor (and quite convincingly, I think). Definitely worth a look as it's pretty amusing stuff, Our Kirst looks gorgeous, and "Terry" is one of the best pop songs she ever wrote (and second only to "They Don't Know" among the highlights of girl-group-style Kirsty in my opinion). If there were any justice in the world, it would've been a huge hit, but then you could say that about all her singles. (The fact that every man, woman, and child on earth doesn't know all the words to "Caroline" is one of the great travesties of the past 20 years.)
Anyway, hopefully this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u12d0dnN0p8 will work, but if not, go to YouTube and search for "Kirsty MacColl Terry" and you should find it.
You have to love a song that rhymes "smarty" with "karate" and gets away with it.
